If you've never had therapy online, it's natural to have questions. Here is exactly how it works, start to finish.
Booking
You choose a time directly from my online calendar, which automatically shows slots in your own time zone — so there's no working out the difference between London and where you are. You book and pay securely in advance, which keeps things simple and the session firmly held for you.
Before the session
You'll receive a private, secure video link by email. A few minutes before, find a quiet space where you won't be interrupted, and where you feel able to speak freely. Headphones can help with both privacy and sound.
During the session
We meet by video for fifty minutes, just as we would in person. After the first few minutes, most people forget about the screen entirely and the conversation simply flows. The work itself — being heard, making sense of things, finding a way forward — is exactly the same.
Confidentiality and security
Sessions use a secure, encrypted video platform. What you share is treated with the same strict confidentiality as in-person work, within the standard ethical framework of BABCP-registered practice. I will always be somewhere private too.
What you'll need
Very little: a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone; a reliable internet connection; and a private, quiet space for the session. That's all.
Time zones and languages
Wherever you are, appointments are arranged to suit you. Sessions are available in English, Latvian and Russian.
Is it right for you?
Online therapy suits most people and most difficulties. The main exception is acute crisis or risk, where local, in-person support is more appropriate — if that's the case, I'll always say so and help you find the right help. For everyone else, it's a genuine, effective way to do real therapeutic work from wherever you are.
